Sole Trader

I am getting myself and my business sorted day by day. I got my business certificate and business account. Recently I have set up a new version of my business website. This time I based it on wordpress engine. Wordpress suits me fine and seems to be the best way to have a nice looking easy managing site, even having own webdesign and webdeveloping business. I think it is a good example especially in the discussion on e-business discussion mailing list that I have been signed up. Check it out: www.drakkart.com
Carlow.pl is getting better, and day by day there is more people familiar with it. I am after my first press release, that I sent to all local media. I got an instant answer from KCLR (Kilkenny Carlow Local Radio) and from The Nationalist (newspaper).
Now I am trying to find good examples of contracts for web design and advertising on the websites. Also I am preparing an introducing letter for Carlow Enterprise Board.

Dear readers involved in IT and similar matters - all your suggestions are very welcomed :)

Serving entire Carlow community - Carlow.pl in English

Carlow.pl - Serving Entire Carlow Community

Couple of days ago I have started to work on English version of Polish Carlow community web portal - Carlow.pl. English version still needs some improvement, but it can provide usefull information and news. My intention is to create a Carlow Internet portal that provides as much accurate as possible information and news on what is going on in Carlow.

Where do I go from here? Nighttime thoughts about my future

I am coming back to Ireland this Thursday (in 6 days), but the time in Poland is not a holiday it’s a very busy period. Apart all of my family matters (my wife is getting better day by day, but her calf will remain plastered for next 4 weeks), I am quite busy working on some web layouts. I am still working on Polish portal for Nenagh, and I am preparing the same platform for Carlow (Carlow.pl - not opened yet), and I am working on some sites and orders from my Polish customers or just friends.

Sitting in front of the computer I am thinking about my future, about coming year. I have just realised that I have been blogging for more than 1 year. I am thinking what will I be doing in the future. Actually I know what I want to do in Ireland.

I want to work for myself, I mean to be self-employed. I would like to have a kind of creative studio - dealing with webdesigning and webmastering, conducting Polish community portals, designing websites, having my own photo studio and releasing and selling my photos (both landscapes, portraits, wedding photos, etc.) preparing commercial graphics and videos etc.

Of course I am not going to do all those things alone, but I am going to have my own business for sure.

You will probably ask… didn’t you missed archaeology in your plans for the future?

No… I didn’t. To be honest, archaeology is my passion. I love it, but I love to be a scientist, a researcher, not a general operative digger, and with my Masters degree, and scientific experience I am not willing to bend so often, so probably I will remain nobody, without any perspectives for the future in Ireland.
I would like to introduce to you my new web portfolio blog, where you can get some more information about what I am working on at the moment or what I have done so far. The site is bilingual (you have Polish and English buttons to every blog entry).

Being busy in Poland - Different Stages

There were not so many posts on my blog since I came back to Poland. I am at home for 3 weeks, dealing with my local activities and matters and issues that happened recently.

1. First of all: 1,5 week ago my wife had an accident during the horse riding. Two horses went into fight kicking themselves. Unfortunately she was riding one of them. She got seriously wounded right calf: cut muscle below the knee, and fibula bone broken. Her righ calf is plastered, so my wife is actually immobilized at the moment. We spent 3 days in the hospitals and surgery clinics dealing with injuries.

2. As you know I am a musician, playing the guitar in two Polish rock - metal bands. One of them - Artrosis - is quite famous (let me say that), and we have many concerts every year. That time we had 4 gigs during 2 weekends. During the concerts I am changing myself into a rock headbanger beast :) like a Dr Jackyl and Mr Hide :)

Irish Blog Awards Preview

ireland, shirehorse, horse

I was asked to prepare a preview of my blog for a Sunday Irish Blog Awards ceremony. Since my blog is still on the short list in the best photoblog category I decided to make a preview with the best photo I have taken in Ireland so far. It is a photo of a shirehorse on the meadows of Burtonhall, close to Carlow (click to enlarge).
