Co-operating with Wings Magazine

Wings Magazine Last couple of days I spent on the adventure trip (Vagabond-Ireland) in Kerry. I was sent over there by Wings Magazine (on board of Central Wings - Polish cheap flights). Now I am writing a long article about that trip. Meanwhile couple of months ago in the last eddition of Wings Magazine, my article about Dublin was published. If you fly with Central Wings you can find it onboard. Unfortunately, the article is in Polish.

Crime, braking the law and offence to the law is so excitingo to the local Irish press.

Since my arrival in Ireland I was buying and reading local press in search for some interesting and useful information about the local area I have been living in. Nowadays I am doing it also for gather some information for my town web services. I have noticed that the most popular topics of the articles and columns printed in local press are the ones that concern crime, braking the law, offending the law or court cases. In fact, that sort of information occupying first 5 - 10 pages of the local newspapers, leaving almost no place for other information. Rapes, burglaries, street fighting, drinking and driving, theft and offences, that is the point of excitement of the local journalist.

I am wondering what is the reason of so much attention devoted to crime and law by a local journalists and newspapers. Maybe it is to give the names of those suspected or convicted man to the public information, but it won’t change them. Such information in the press won’t prevent troublemakers thefts, rapists and drinking drivers from doing such things.
Since I have been accused by some of spreading anti Irish propaganda I would like to ask, what is that for. In my opinion the picture of local community described in the local newspapers is not very happy and can leave not good remarks in minds of foreigners. Crime is in every country and Ireland is not worse that the other states in Europe

MacKozer’s new photoblog!

I have being blogging for more than 1 year and I have been taking photos for years. So far I have had 2 blogs (Polish and English) about Ireland and Polish community on that Island, however many of my photos are not showing Ireland. In fact they are showing many places (Poland, Scotland, Mexico, Czech Republic) and things (people, architecture, nature, animals etc.), thus I have come to the conclusion that I needed a photoblog so as to introduce my photos to my blogs’ readers.

About 50pc of us don’t want to come back.

Today’s edition of Gazeta Wyborcza and its Internet portal - Gazeta.pl refers to the latest results of the poll-survey among the Polish emigrants in British Isles (Great Britain and Ireland). The survey was conducted by institute “ARC Rynek i Opinia” among 1389 Poles at the airports throughout the Isles.

In Ireland and Britain, most of us perform manual labour and earns about 7,500 zloty per month, compared to 700 - 1500 zloty per month in Poland, and the salaries are the most important reason why many of us decided to stay, or at least decided not to come back to Poland in next 5 - 10 years. Also important reason is the fact that many of us settled down very well.

In my opinion there is another very important factor that prevent us from thinking about coming back. It is a economical chaos and tough rule of the far right side, populist government in Poland. They are wasting time for hunting commies, gays and lesbians, Satans (as our prime minister called opposition parties) or struggling with Polish doctors trying to force them to work for 200 - 300 Euro per month. As for the doctors - they are massively leaving their jobs in hospitals due to the very poor salaries, accusations of corruption from the ministry of justice and the very bad attitude and intentions expressed by the parties in rule during the negotiations.

Quoted in Polish eddition of Newsweek

A week ago I was questioned by a journalist of Polish Newsweek on the issue of a number of boorishness, rude and aggressive behaviour among Polish community in Ireland. I still meet some rude and aggressive Poles, but I must admit, it is now much less frequent than 1 year ago, and it doesn’t mean that I am more blind than the time when I arrived in Ireland (I have described it on my blog one year ago).
Nowadays, being involved in integration of Polish society I can see growing awareness of proper behaviour among Poles. More people are aware of what they should do and what they should not.

The article, with quotation of my opinions, was published in today’s Polish Newsweek edition.
