Inside the latest issue of Nenagh Guardian you can find a bilingual article about my project of Polish community of Nenagh web portal Nenagh.pl. I am glad that there is a English version of that text available for Irish people who may will be interested in co-operating, participating or just in buying advert space. There have been some feedback since the publication of it, both from Poles (they are registering on Nenagh.pl forum) and some from Irish as well.
Parallel to works on Nenagh.pl I am working on Carlow.pl. The service is almost done and almost ready for opening. In forthcoming weeks I will be looking for potential Irish co-operators, advert space buyers in Carlow, and I will be dealing with registration of my Sole Proprietorship. If you can help me with gather information about it and possible UE grants please let me know.
Meanwhile, I have just come back to Ireland, but I can’t get rid of bad luck as far as health of mine and my wife is concerned. I am ill, and I have fever, headache, and earache, due to extraction of one of my teeth. I hope I will be able to go for tonight Clannad concert.

Once (almost a year ago) I mentioned how I took an interest in Gaelic (which I used to treat as a “Celtic”) culture and tradition both in Ireland and in Scotland and thus interest in both countries in general. Later this interest expanded on whole British isles, then it resulted in my archaeology passion.
The first and most important contact took place more than 20 years ago, during a deep economical crisis of the last years of communism in Poland. At that time, Polish television (then we had only two channels) broadcasted BBC TV series “Robin of Sherwood” with a brilliant soundtrack by Clannad.
Since that time I have been listening to Clannad music and I have been trying to learn as much about Ireland and Scotland (to be honest I used to be more interested in that country) as possible. In the late 80ties and early 90ties of 20th century I was gathering tapes illegally copied and sold in the music shops. The first Clannad albums on cassettes I bought or just obtained were “Legend”, “Magical Ring”, “Dulaman”, “Macalla” and “Atlantic Realm”.
They are still quite famous in Poland and commonly known due to the “Robin, the hooded man” - main theme of the Robin of Sherwood.
Broadcasting “Robin of Sherwood” and playing Clannad music in Polish radio in the mid 80ties took a massive impact on many open minded Poles. Since that time many Polish bands playing traditional Irish, Scottish , Welsh music have been founded and open minded people became interested in so called Celtic music and culture.
Thanks to Clannad I discovered a book of tales from magical world, and with every album I bought I was turning the pages of it. Thanks to Clannad I have fallen in love with Gaelic languages (Gaeilge and Socttish Gaelic), and during my many trips to Scotland (in the 90ties) especially its western and northern parts I had Clannad on my headphones almost all the time.
Of course, they had better and worse times and albums, and some traditional songs I prefer in versions performed by other bands, for example Alasdair MacColla (or Alasdair Mhic Colla) performed by Scottish band Capercaillie.
After more than 20 years I have my ticket for Friday’s Clannad concert in Dublin. I am looking forward to see them live for the very first time in my life.

I am coming back to Ireland this Thursday (in 6 days), but the time in Poland is not a holiday it’s a very busy period. Apart all of my family matters (my wife is getting better day by day, but her calf will remain plastered for next 4 weeks), I am quite busy working on some web layouts. I am still working on Polish portal for Nenagh, and I am preparing the same platform for Carlow (Carlow.pl - not opened yet), and I am working on some sites and orders from my Polish customers or just friends.
Sitting in front of the computer I am thinking about my future, about coming year. I have just realised that I have been blogging for more than 1 year. I am thinking what will I be doing in the future. Actually I know what I want to do in Ireland.
I want to work for myself, I mean to be self-employed. I would like to have a kind of creative studio - dealing with webdesigning and webmastering, conducting Polish community portals, designing websites, having my own photo studio and releasing and selling my photos (both landscapes, portraits, wedding photos, etc.) preparing commercial graphics and videos etc.
Of course I am not going to do all those things alone, but I am going to have my own business for sure.
You will probably ask… didn’t you missed archaeology in your plans for the future?
No… I didn’t. To be honest, archaeology is my passion. I love it, but I love to be a scientist, a researcher, not a general operative digger, and with my Masters degree, and scientific experience I am not willing to bend so often, so probably I will remain nobody, without any perspectives for the future in Ireland.
I would like to introduce to you my new web portfolio blog, where you can get some more information about what I am working on at the moment or what I have done so far. The site is bilingual (you have Polish and English buttons to every blog entry).

There were not so many posts on my blog since I came back to Poland. I am at home for 3 weeks, dealing with my local activities and matters and issues that happened recently.
1. First of all: 1,5 week ago my wife had an accident during the horse riding. Two horses went into fight kicking themselves. Unfortunately she was riding one of them. She got seriously wounded right calf: cut muscle below the knee, and fibula bone broken. Her righ calf is plastered, so my wife is actually immobilized at the moment. We spent 3 days in the hospitals and surgery clinics dealing with injuries.
2. As you know I am a musician, playing the guitar in two Polish rock - metal bands. One of them - Artrosis - is quite famous (let me say that), and we have many concerts every year. That time we had 4 gigs during 2 weekends. During the concerts I am changing myself into a rock headbanger beast

I am coming back to Ireland on Thursday, March the 15th.

I was asked to prepare a preview of my blog for a Sunday Irish Blog Awards ceremony. Since my blog is still on the short list in the best photoblog category I decided to make a preview with the best photo I have taken in Ireland so far. It is a photo of a shirehorse on the meadows of Burtonhall, close to Carlow (click to enlarge).
